Listening to some of the vid and then reading the article, I’m more depressed than inspired. And a bit angry. It certainly does not tell the full story of Us.

It is great post and I’m glad to have read it, but I think stuff like this does more harm than good.

As for the tasered woman in Florida, yes, she did put herself in that situation, but once she is in police custody becomes their responsibility to make sure she is protected – even from themselves. Why was she not secured in the police station? Why was this officer not maintaining control over his arrestee, to give her opportunity to bolt? And lastly, why did this officer choose to use a taser when the video obviously shows he was not five steps behind her, and her ability to run was compromised by the handcuffs. There is no reason why he couldn’t have managed to catch up with her and used his -training- to subdue her, and return her to his control. Instead, he chose the easiest possible method available to him, that would take him the least amount of effort. Tasers should be used in a situation where the officer’s, or someone else’s life is in danger, not to avoid exercise.
